Hi, I feel a bit of a fraud posting here but I really need some help and advice. I wish to stress that I have not been diagnosed with cancer.
i have been experiencing incredibly heavy menstrual bleeding for the last year, periods lasting for 10 -12 days. At least 3 days would involve wearing a super plus tampax and towel but both need changing every 45mins to and hour. During periods I also have an aching, painful lower back and cramps, nausea, headaches etc etc. I will often miss periods and Often have extra bleeding in between periods.
I had an ultrasound in October and was diagnosed with a 6cm ovarian cyst and thickened womb lining. As there is a history orf ovarian and breast cancer in my family I was seen promptly in clinic where they attempted to take a biopsy of the lining of the womb. They had to stop as the dr couldn't get through my cervix and it was causing a lot of pain. I was told that I would be booked in for a follow up scan and hysteroscopy under a local anaesthetic and offered the Mirena coil. As I have Ehlers Danlos I am immune to most local anaesthesia and to complicate matters I spontaneously expelled the Mirena I'd had fitted a year previous to this. Also with Ehlers Danlos, progesterone can caused my symptoms to become out of control.
i had the follow up ultrasound 4 weeks later and was told the cyst had gone but there was another on on the other ovary and also my womb lining was thickened and was told I had polyps and would be contacted within two weeks to arrange another hysteroscopy and biopsy under a general.
I received my appointment for this procedure but unfortunately it was scheduled to be under a local rather than general. I rang to advise I needed this under a general and was told this would be scheduled. This was the first week of December and I've heard nothing since.
My main question is how long should it take from the ultrasound and possible diagnosis of polyps to confirm this with the hysteroscopy and biopsy? I don't know how many polyps I have or the size. I have so many questions but have been told I can expect to wait up to 18 weeks for this procedure.
I am worried but mainly frustrated at the confusion and poor communication.
