Living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

I dont have cancer.Caroline, my partner does.

49 years old and stage 4 breast cancer mesastasised to lungs, pelvic bone, brain.

She has just changed to Chemo number 5 as the previous 4 have not worked.

Outwardly she still appears fit and healthy if not tired and needs a nap in the afternoons.

Shes the strong one...

Just before Xmas she had Radiosurgery on her brain which we were told today is shrinking the tumour.

The lung tumours are now showing on her lymph nodes central chest area.

She starts Paclitaxel and will have it every week. This is the 5th Chemo they have tried.

I have no idea at all why I am here posting. Caroline doesnt know.

  • Hi Dave and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to read about Caroline's diagnosis but it's good to see you've had some positive news about the brain tumour shrinking.

We have a few members on the forum living with stage 4 cancer, one of which is‍ Mare, who has been living with stage 4 breast cancer for 9 years now. You can read more about her journey on this discussion just here.

We'll have our fingers crossed the 5th chemo will be successful Dave.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Dave,

Just thought i would say 'Hi' and see how you and Caroline are doing?  I'm currently on weekly paclitaxel and had my treatment yesterday.  I've been ok on the weekly, i have it combined with carbo every 3 weeks which sets me back a couple of days.  Hope you are both doing ok, i know my husband is finding it hard especially when i have my rough days and when my hair fell out and nothing he could do about it.

It was hard in the beginning as like you said you dont look or feel ill, i was quite numb and went to work the next day after diagnosis like everything was normal!

Anyways, I hope the paclitaxel is working and starts shrinking those tumours.

    Hugs x
