Hello everyone! Waiting for breast biopsy results

Hi everyone

Long time supporter ..... have lurked for a while and now plucking up courage to say hello!  What an amazing source of support and information here!

just before Christmas had mammo, ultrasound, fine needle aspiration and core biopsy. History of breast cysts so thought everything at the clinic would be just routine. But there was an area that needed further investigation.

the wait for results is just horrible isn’t it .... trying to be positive, trying not to fear the worst.  Thinking that no news is good news.

Feel a bit in limbo .... just waiting to hear

best wishes to everyone

    Hi Ohana,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry that you are going through the mill, as you wait for results. Have you got a date for your results yet? We all get in a state when waiting for results of tests - the unknown is so scary!

I don't want to dash your hopes, but don't be too complacent.  This is not a case of 'no news is good news'.

You have probably been hit by the Chrismas/New Year's holidays, which will have delayed the return of pathology results. We have found that it is impossible to detect the outcome from the longer or shorter return dates. Most surgeons like to give patients their results face-to-face and, it can sometimes be difficult to fit everyone in as soon as they'd like to.

Keep yourself as busy as you can to distract yourself from the wait. I sincerely hope that your symptoms still turn out to be cysts and, that nothing untoward is picked up.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Ohana,

You must have been waiting for 3 weeks now. If this is the case, phone your breast care nurse and ask her when you are likely to get your results. This usually only takes 1-2 weeks, so you are quite justified in making your enquiry.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi ohana,

I am surprised that you have not been allocated a breast care nurse yet. In that case, phone your GP tomorrow. If s/he hasn't got them yet, they should be able to get them with a phone call to the hospital.

    Fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Ohana,

After all your worry , this is great news.

Don't forget to check yourself regularly and, this should ensure that you will catch anything that crops up early. That having been said, here's hoping that you will never have to face this again.

I am absolutely delighted for you!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Ohana,

Really hope you have had your results by now and that all is well. Think you will be fine.

I had my results last week after 3 days, not great but just knew that it wouldn't be. Anyway,am going for surgery next week and then radiotherapy, keeping positive, small lump, hopefully not spread, horrible disease but won't give in to it.

    All my best wishes
