Letrozol

I have been on letrozol for around 4months and I am finding that my joints are really aching. Have others found this. Does it ease with time?

  • Hi Susancarol and welcome to the forum.

Joint pain does seem to be a common side effect as you can see here but hopefully some of our members who have taken this for a longer period of time will be along soon to let you know how they're getting on.

Our cancer nurses are also available for a chat on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to discuss this with them as well.

I hope this starts to improve soon but if you find it's impacting on your day-to-day life or getting worse do be sure to let your doctor know.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Susancarol,

    Welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are having joint problems with Letrozole. As Steph said above, this is a common side-effect of Letrozole. I took it for 6 years and stopped taking it in July 2017. I had a lot of joint problems with it and, am sad to report that I still have them. I had to get both of my knees replaced when I was taking it, but I'm still here 10 years after diagnosis.

If you are really suffering badly with your joints, talk to your oncologist. There are alternatives, which may not affect your joints so much.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
