Open Radical Nephrectomy

Hello, I am 53 and I'm having an open radical nephrectomy on my left kidney on the 9th January. I don't know what to tell you. I'm slightly nervous, never had surgery before. I apparently have a tumour where my kidney used to be so they are removing it along with a large cyst. Any insights, any advice willingly accepted. Thanks.
