Worried

Hi iam 31 years old and for the past 6 years I've been invited for cervical screening.

I never went until December 2019 from 2018 I had changes and spotting

Server back pain took me to the gp and she presued me to get a smear. I went for a smear on 3rd dec I then had to go for a punch biopsy on the 11th and then I had to go back on the 27th dec for a loop biopsy. I now have an appointment to see a gyno on 14 Jan. I don't know any results from my first biopsy they are been quite secretive I'm just worried as everything is going very quickly. Has anything happened like this to anyone

  • Hi my love, I'm now 50, and went through your exact same worry , which was cin 3, which is the wart virus, human papalomus virus, at 23yrs ii was petrified, as was diagnosed possible cancer, pls don't be worried before time, as it usually is nothing, but you I'm sure will be strong and face all ahead of you, and if found early, you will be cleared, I've had no further problems since, pls be positive, sherry x oh and I waited ages also to hear news!?

  • Hi,

I also had the biopsies etc, (punch and other) and everything turned out fine at my final appointment. I am 31. I will keep you in my prayers and are sure all will be ok.
    Lauren

  • Oh bless you, my first, well first seen message, it feels so lovely to know someone else I'd out there, oh my love, know the fright and anxiety of not knowing, waiting. It's a ***, scuse language,. Not all waiting I'd bad news, my thought r with you too, xxx sherry xx ko

  • Hi Kayley

i don’t think they are necessarily being secretive...it just takes time for biopsy results to come back.

I’m assuming from the treatment you had that some abnormal cells were found and they have now been removed. Hopefully that will be enough, but at the appointment you have coming up the gynaecologist will explain the treatment and what happens next, which could be either just monitoring or some further treatment.

Abnormal cells are not cancer, but are most likely to be caused by having hpv(human papilloma virus). This is an extremely common virus, which has many different strains, only some of which may eventually cause cancer to develop if abnormalities are left untreated. I just wanted to pick up on a point made by another poster-the strains of hpv which can cause cervical cancer to develop are NOT the same as those which can cause warts. They are different. CIN is NOT caused by the virus which causes genital warts.

Hopefully you will get positive news at your appointment and no further treatment will be needed but do come back and let us know if you need more support or advice. xx

  • I'm so glad this helped you feel better. My Mum used to always say 'no news is good news'. It's always worked for me.

    Take care, love Lauren x
