i went to docs today about a freckle that had grew but it isn’t painful , isn’t bleeding and stayed the same for a few year and she she’s referred me but says she doesn’t think it is. I’m now so worried and can’t stop crying. What’s next?

Hi,
It's good that you have been referred because an expert should be able to put your mind at rest. A dermatologist will look at the freckle through a dermascope - this will tell them if there is any unusual activity in the cells. If there isn't, you will be given a clean bill of health. If there is, they will arrange for it to be removed and a biopsy carried out - many biopsies come back clear. 75% of people referred to dematology are given a clean bill of health so the odds are good that it will be OK and your GP is just being cautious.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on,
Angie (melanoma patient)
My appointments came though for the 9th jan I’m so scared I could be sick
the time of year makes it feel worse
thanks for replying
Hi Brad,
Try to distract yourself doing the things you enjoy while waiting for your appointment. Dwelling on what might be won't get you these next few days back if it all turns out to be fine, which there is 75% chance it will. You don't have too long to wait so stay positive & Good luck.
Angie
Hi Brad,
I get how you're feeling and Angie has given good suggestions.
I understand how hard the wait is, whether going for a first appointment or waiting for results, as you said especially waiting over the Christmas and new year period.
I had a mole removed from my back over four weeks ago it was a wide and deep excision in outpatients by a plastic surgeon.
I was told after I had the procedure I would have my results in two weeks.
Two weeks passed and I phoned the secretary. She said the wait is more like five weeks regardless of the result.
Apparently the wait time can depend on the hospital we attended.
I am now in my fifth week. Everyday I have been checking the post.
In some moments my mind has been occupied but mostly it's there...it is a scary time.
I hope I have helped by sharing. You are not alone.
I'm hoping as we all are, for a clear result.
I hope that when you get your result it will be favourable news.
Please keep updating so we can hear how you're getting on.
Maya
Hi Brad,
I'm new to the post. I responded to Angie T by mistake.
Sorry Angie. My Response was to Brad.
You both may have worked it out :D:)
Maya
Yeah lol I guessed it was too me, hoping the best for you thanks for sharing
Morning Brad
Hoping all the best for you too for the 9th.
It will come around quickly now.
What I forgot to tell the doctor is I’ve had this for years now, I’m terrified and feel sick
Morning Brad,
It is worrying times. My mole was one that I remember having as a child and at a mature age had started to show changes.
Was your a new mole that came a few years ago?
When you go to your appointment tomorrow, if it helps, write your concerns down and try to remember to ask questions.
All the best for tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. We are here for you
Hi,
all was ok it’s benign.
Any news on yours?
