Lumps on neck

Hey there, my son is 18mths old and for as long as I can remember he has had 2 pea sized lumps on the right side of his neck. Went to the Dr's about a month ago and she doesn't think they feel like anything sinister but said to come back in a month's time as he had a cold when at the appt. The month is almost up and he still has them.

Anyone other parent been in this situation?

  • Hi Montythepython,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sure it feels a little worrying when there is this uncertainty, but try not to worry too much and hopefully it is reassuring that the doctor doesn't think it's anything to worry about.

Hopefully you're able to make that appointment soon and I hope you're able to find out more before too long.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, I am now 65 years old and I too had a pea sized lump on my neck when I was a baby (back in the 50's) My mother was also very worried, but the doctor thought it was just a large gland and was nothing to worry about. I was born with asthma, so I visited to doctors very regularly and often had my neck checked. I believe he was right as I had it all my life and had not caused any pain or discomfort. However, in June 2019 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and suddenly took a vast interest in my body! It was then I noticed that the lump was not there anymore.
I truly hope that what your son has, is nothing more than what I had.
