Awaiting results

Hey,

there's probably no one out there but I just needed to talk to someone.

i've been having headaches on and off for two years. Before this I never suffered with them st all. Recently they have been coming more often and now I have it all the time.
it's not a migraine as i don't have any of the associated symptoms.
my doc tried me on beta blockers but they did nothing. I went to see another doc who did some tests in her office and has urgently referred me for an MRI. I had this yesterday.

i have to wait until Friday for my results and it's tearing me up. My partner is the only person I have to speak to and his motto is your can't worry until you know what it is'. I know this but my mind doesn't. I'm so worried.

the doc said she thinks something might be pressing Ona nerve which is causing balance issues. This keeps going round in my head as the only thing that could be doing this is a tumour, whether it's malignant or benign.

i think I'm just venting as I have no one else to talk to. Sorry

    Hi Angie,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms. These must be very draining for you.

I am glad to hear that you have now had an MRI to investigate these further. It is always a worrying time when you are waiting for results of tests. You are lucky to be getting your results as quickly as Friday. Most of us have to wait 1-2 weeks or longer for results.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years and have been waiting for 12 weeks to get an brain scan, as I have been taking 'funny turns' for a few years now. I am not sure what is causing them. It could be a tumour, or it could be due to medication. I fully understand your concerns.

I am not a doctor, but I am sure that there could well be simpler reasons for your headaches, for example, how is your blood pressure? I had terrible migraines for 4 days out of 7 for a number of years and, didn't discover the reason until I went for a medical for health insurance. At this stage, I had been attending my GP regularly for a number of years. I was refused insurance, because my blood pressure was dangerously high and, haven't had a migraine since I started taking medication for hypertension. That is now nearly 40 years ago.

I hope that noting untoward is found in your MRI and, that there is a more straightforward solution than you are expecting.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you get on on Friday. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Angie.

Your partner is right, you should try not to worry. That's actually impossible to do though, I know.

You should perhaps try and realise that most of the time we have something wrong with us it isn't cancer.

Just a thought, but have you had your eyes tested lately? I've recently had to start wearing glasses and the eye strain I get when I'm not wearing them gives me headaches.
