Worried teen

I’m hoping to find some sort of reassurance hopefully

I’m 17 and a year ago when I was 16 I found 2 lumps in my right breast about a cm long and oval shaped can move when pressed. And a few months after finding them I went to my doctor and she said that it might just be a cyst or something.

Im constantly still anxious about them when they now grows to about 2cm but still oval and movable. However 3 weeks ago I found something that feels like a lump in my neck it’s on the left side of my neck and in oval shape but about a cm long and kinda hard. And I’ve once again never been so anxious in my life. Like anyone got any suggestions on what it might be. Like I guess I expect the worst and that’s all I can think about as I’m only 17 I’m so lost

  • Hi,

I would go back to the doctors and ask for a referral and then you can get a specialist to look at them and get them scanned to hopefully put your mind at rest.

have you got someone that can come with you?

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but when I first found my lump I deliberately stayed off Dr Google!

get yourself back to the doctors and demand a referral for a scan. They should refer you to the breast clinic for scans.

let me know how you get on.

  • Hi,

I'm not a doctor but at your age I think it's most likely to be just benign cysts. I also had cysts when I was younger and didn't need any treatment, they disappeared. Some people develop cysts and others don't and nobody knows why. Usually they disappear of their own accord, but you should be properly diagnosed by a doctor. The sooner you see your doctor about this the better, because if it is something that needs treatment, the sooner you start the better.Your doctor may refer you to a specialist because it will be impossible to see exactly what it is without proper exams.

Don't worry too much now, but go see your doctor asap for your own peace of mind.

    All the best!
