Husbands brain cancer diagnosis

Hi All,

This is my first post here, my husband has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour. He has been told the cancer is not curable and it is not possible to operate but he will be starting a 6 week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on 9th Jan. I am trying to take each day as it comes and stay as positive as I can but literally cannot believe this is happening. My husband is 33 years old and I’m 19 weeks pregnant with our first child. He is being unbelievably strong and positive, but I can’t help but worry about what the next few months will bring. I’m not really sure what I’m asking but just wanted to reach out to anyone who has been in a similar situation.

    Hi Lau,

Well, we talk about a cancer diagnosis being a rollercoaster, but you and your husband have taken this to new heights. You have faced the best news in the world, in that you are expecting your first child and then you get hit by your husband's tragic news. I cannot even begin to imagine how you cope with this!

Nobody could be expected to deal with all that his symptoms entail, so forget the full picture and, don't try to look too far ahead. Take just one day at a time and you will manage this better. I am glad that your husband is managing to stay strong and positive, as I'm sure that he is extremely eager to see the new baby when it arrives. There just couldn't be a better incentive to prove the doctors wrong!

You will both have a hard road ahead of you as you go through chemo and radiotherappy, but I sincerely hope that this works for him.

Please keep in touch and let us know how his treatment goes. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Lau,

I shall be thinking of your husband as he starts his chemo on Thursday and hope that it all goes well for him. How are you keeping? I expect that you are over the morning sickness by now and beginning to enjoy your pregnancy. Remember to take care of yourself throughout all this, as his treatment is likely to tire you both out. From what I have read here, it is important to drink plenty of water when undergoing chemo.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you both get on and remember that I am always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
