Testicular ultra sound waiting time worried

I was referred from my dr to have an ultrasound as I had been having pain in my groin / scrotum area I had no lumps and he said it's probably nothing but just to be safe, so today I had my ultrasound by a technician and she said you will get the results back in 5-7 days and I asked if it could be any sooner and she said not really considering it's over christmas period but it is nothing to worry about why wouldn't they just tell me on the spot she also mentioned when she was scanning me she was feeling above my pelvis asking if it hurt when she was touching there which it never but don't know if that means something.

  • Hi Jkenyonn,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's quite normal to have that waiting time for results - they're not able to give results straight away. This waiting time won't make a difference to anything, although I understand it's not nice waiting for results.

Try to keep your mind off it for now if you can, and also try not to read into any comments too much.

I hope it's not too much longer to wait for you.

    All the best,

  • So I rang up last week for my results and the receptionist told me everything was normal and the doctor had signed the scan off, but then at the weekend I got a letter saying the doctor would like you to make an appointment to discuss your recent ultrasound so I rang today and the receptionist confirmed he would like me to come in is this normal protocol has anyone had anything similar

  • Hi Jkenyonn,

I'm unsure exactly how often doctors tend to do this, however it is quite common to discuss results face-to-face, and it gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you have - so do make sure you raise any questions or concerns with your doctor at the appointment.

    All the best,
