Multiplying Fibroadenomas

Hi All,

I had 2 fibroadenomas removed when I was 18 and had no issues since, however now at the age of 23 I have had a new Fibroadenoma grow in the opposite breast to the one where the two were removed. The Fibroadenoma was causing pain but nothing could be done as it was so small (consultant basically told me I didn't have cancer or have 5 lumps so who cares!).

6 months since having my fibroadenoma confirmed, I had a follow up scan (which I had to fight for), which confirmed that I now have 3 fibroadenomas in total in my breast. One month later the pains have started in my other breast (which I had the first two removed), and I can now feel 2 more tiny fibroadenomas (no one wanted to scan this breast which is why nothing has been confirmed yet).

so my question is - what remedies are there that has helped others in regards to pain relief/help to shrink them eg evening primrose oil, Castor oil, giving up alcohol etc. My doctor said there is conflicting information on evening primrose oil so would be good to hear others thoughts.

thanks!

    Hi LittleL1,

A warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear of the problems that you are having at such a tender age. You know your own body best, so if you definitely feel regrowth in the original breast, don't be afraid to fight for a scan.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years and, was taking Evening Primrose tablets when I was first diagnosed. My consultant advised me to stop taking this, because it can react with some of the cancer treatments and reduct their effectiveness. I think that the jury is still out on alcohol. The best person to ask is your own consultant, as s/he has all of your medical details to hand and knows what treatments will be proposed, if any. I was put on to Lyrica for pain and then had Bu-Trans patches thrown in to the mix.

These helped, but I eventually had to stop using Lyrica, as it affected my concentration and memory. Since then I am only taking Paracetemol and Bu-Trans patches, but these are not really touching the pain.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
