Waiting

Morning all

On Thursday night I noticed a dimple on my breast. Managed to get a GP appointment yesterday and she agrees there is a dimple but neither of us felt a lump, no nipple changes, no family history. I'm 34 so hoping its nothing but the internet is not kind about dimples on breast. Have an urgent referral but obviously this time of year is not good for urgency. Trying not to worry

  • Hi Princess

This waiting lark is tough, my referral for xmas eve was cancelled without explanation., only through havng a bit of a duck fit with my GP practice did I find it had been booked with haematology rather than heamatology/oncology which means I won't be seen until mid Jan

I'm focussing on enjoying each and every day with fresh air and a peaceful walk, I do find that it helps me.

Keep your chin up and good luck

    Hi Princess,

Welcome to our forum. You have been fortunate to see your GP so quickly and, I am glad to hear that she has referred you to the breast clinic. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer inthe past 10 years and the one piece of advice I offer to most people is to avoid consulting Dr Google at all costs. He is definitely not kind and, until you have had some tests carried out, you won't even know what you are up against.

The fact that you have no lump, no nipple changes and no family history should all stand you in good stead.  Your appointment at the clinic is as much to rule out cancer as to find it, so here's hoping that the former turns out to be the case for you. Of every 8 people referred to the clinic only 1 will turn out to have cancer, so the odds are good for you.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

    Hi Claire,

I am so sorry to hear about the mix up with your referral and hope that yopu don't have too long to wait into the new year.

Keep those walks up, especially if you feel that they are helping. Don't forget to let us know how you get on in January.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Clare, thanks for the reply. I admit I dont even really know how I feel right now. Have been looking through my life insurance documents and figuring out financial implications if the news isnt good. The practical aspect is making me feel calmer knowing that whatever goes down I am prepared.

Emotionally I dont know how prepared I am, finding that I am fine and distracted one minute and it's all consuming the next.

Also now thinking I have pain in my breast which I think I have conjured out of nowhere. What a strange thing the mind is, playing tricks.

I hope you are in good spirits and let me know how you get on x

  • Thanks Jolamine, are you in good health now?

I feel like I am not a lucky person in general when it comes to raffles etc so maybe this is the time my number is up! Not the raffle I want to win but will take it as it comes

Thanks for the kind words, I'll be in touch when I hear anything x
