Called for ultrasound following breast clinic appointment

I have been called in for an ultrasound following a mammogram that I had during an appointment at breast clinic 2 weeks ago after finding a lump in my breast.

Have to be said I'm slightly stressed out about it, as I hadn't heard anything for nearly 2 weeks, I've convinced myself that everything is ok.

Appointment is at 9am on Christmas Eve, it's definitely going to be a very long weekend, struggling to get into the Christmas spirit.

  • Hi Rosey,

Sorry to hear you have been called back for a other scan. I do know that often they do mammogram and ultrasound together, as mammograms don't always show so clearly with dense breasts, which is what I have and ultrasounds tend to be routine.

Try not to worry too much, I know easier said then done. But good to get the scan out the way now and sooner you can have a result.

Good luck for your appointment, I'll be at hospital top on Xmas eve lol!

    Best wishes

    Hi Rosey,

Mich is quite right, they often do the mammogram and ultrasound together. It depends on the set up at each hospital. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and a few scares in the past 10 years and I have always had both followed by a CT scan and an MRI.

I know that this means more waiting, which is always scary, but at least your consultant is being thorough - better this than missing something!

Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
