feeling very woried that i may have cervical cancer

Hi,

Im 34 years old and for the past 8 months i have been suffering with heavy periods also losing large clots, they were previously lasting about 4 weeks but this last one has lasted 3 months going through super size tampons in an hour - very draining!

I have had 2 internal vaginal scans that has shown i have a cyst that is over 5cm and have been reffered to Gyne which is the 13th Jan.

Last week i had an appointment at the docs who prescribed me some tranamaxic (sp) acid to help subside the bleeding which thankfully it has but she also took some swabs sort of like a smear test.

Ive just had a call from the docs as my results are back and they would like to see me as there are some abnormalities, im so scared as in the last week or so i have also been suffering with achy legs and have read this can also be a sign of cervical cancer.

My last smear was about 1.5 - 2 years ago and all fine.

I guess im just looking for some other similar experiences to try and best prepare myself!

Thank you for reading x

  • Hi sarlou1234,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries and what you've been experiencing recently.

I'm afraid I'm not really able to help in terms of similar experiences or what to expect - so if anyone here has any similar experiences then hopefully they'll be long soon; my reply will boost your post so more people will see it.

I can understand how you're feeling but try as best as possible to not worry too much prior to your appointment - some people say it helps to keep busy and distracted. It's good that you have been getting it checked out and I hope it's not too much longer to wait to find out more. Do also try to avoid looking things up online as this can increase the worry and also a lot of the information may be irrelevant.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
