Worried about vulvar cancer

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience as me. I’m 28 years old and around 8 months ago I noticed that I had developed what I thought what a Bartholins cyst. I went to the dr who agreed but didn’t do any further checks as she said it would soon drain/ go away. 8 months later and it has slightly grown - it’s  oval shaped, pointed at one end and around the size of a broad bean (I’ve just realised how hard it is to compare a size!). On top of this, my labia has become incredibly sensitive and itchy, and several lumps have appeared on my actual labia. I also have developed a cluster of small white raised bumps in this area. Obviously I’m quite concerned by this, I’m not sexually active and haven’t been for close to a year now. I also had a strange experience after going to he loo last week - I looked down and there were several drops of what appeared to be fresh blood on top of the paper, but there was no trace of it on loo paper (did some careful dabbing to check) which has baffled me but it’s pushed me to book in with the docs. I have also developed quite severe hip pain which seems to be triggered by movement even as slight as emptying and stacking the dishwasher. I washed my kitchen floor a few weeks back and started crying because the pain was so bad. Needless to say I’m a bit worried about what this could be, I have an appointment on the 17th with my docs (they asked me to wait until 6 jan but then moved it earlier when I told them about my symptoms).

I know that this very well turn out to be nothing, but I was wondering if anyone here experienced similar and would be willing to share? I like to think that I’m quite sensible about these things but I’m stressing that this could be vulvar cancer. I haven’t felt right for months and I’m a single parent to a five year old who is going through epilepsy diagnosis, so terribly timing!

Any help/shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ajc86 what was your diagnosis please? I have the same symptoms and I'm worried. Thank you, hope everything has been ok since March.

  • Hi everyone, so sorry for the late reply! My notifications had snuck in the junk email!

The outcome was not so bad after all, my lump decided to randomly dissappear only a day or two after commenting on this post! So I put it down to being a spot! With all the creams I had used I probably blocked my pores? And the ithcing, went away completely with some Daktacort hyrdocortisone miconazole cream, which has antifungal in it and a mild topical steroid cream. Worked wonders after only a few days of using it, however it needs to be used for 7 days at least, max 14 days.

Then only July, the ithcing came back again, and I am assuming because the cream worked that it is dermatitis, as since June, similar symptoms behind my ears, eye lids, bikini line, armpits, hips, have all come up very slowly since, but now I also have it on my scalp! So I do hope you all have a good outcome like mine, I will be thinking of you xx

  • Hi everyone,

I'm so glad that some of you have found this useful, and I really hope that you're all sorted now.

just an update. I finally had my appointment this week. The gynae consultant was lovely and talked through my symptoms in detail. Lump is still there and has grown slightly bigger again, still bleeding between periods etc. The doc did a gynae exam and took some swabs and has referred me for some urgent tests including on my womb. I'm petrified but at least things seem to be moving along now.

  • Hi there ladies,

I have been worrying for months about my symptoms which I have had for a year and a half now this is going to sound strange but it's sort of reassuring I am not alone with struggling with these symptoms. I have an online consultation with gynaecology two weeks today after numerous trips to my GP being prescribed several creams and antibiotics all with nil effect! Like you all I am rather concerned my symptoms may be vulvar cancer It all started in August last year with itchiness and redness on the one side of my vaginal lip, over the following months these symptoms have worsened so much so I have been near tears with the pain and uncontrollable urge to itch the area which is tender to touch. Sex is completely out of the question as right now I can't think of anything worse right now. I have had x2 ocassions where my lympnodes in my groin on the same side as the tender, red, itchy vaginal lip. I don't know about you guys but I feel I have been ignored and made to feel like it is in my head. I can assure anyone the last thing I want to be doing on a regular basis is laying bottom naked on my drs examination table being handed more antibiotics and creams which are having no effect. The only symptom that I do not have is the bleeding between periods are any of you experiencing these similar symptoms?? Any information or replies would be much appreciated.

    kind regards

    Tammy
