Oh my, what a horrible possisition your in ..  are you a single parent ... because your son needs help now ... that is an in between age , younger or older not so bad ... I think he needs gentle honesty .. maybe explain just why and how things will be ..  listen to his questions, and answer with simple honesty ... 

How you care for your son now, will go with him through life ... he may well want to stay away ... he may want to help more .. every thing is o.k .. whatever he wants , to help him through .. listen is the first thing ... find out just how he honestly feels ... tell him it's o.k to feel anything ...

McMillan or Marie Currie may help .. they will have far more expierance ... reach out to any one .. yes your dad needs you, but your son needs you just as much ... in a different way ... he may need to talk about dieing ... because that age, it can play on his mind ... so give them a call Monday.. I think McMillan do books ...to help where children are ...
