Hi I'm a newbie here just been reading posts from last year but I think my symptoms are very similar. I had a parathyroidectomy last August. Twelve weeks after surgery I was getting severe sharp pain at the back of my tongue (right hand side) and my ear. I thought it was down to the surgery so just left it. Over the next few months the pain was getting worse wakening me up with it. Went to docs who wrote to the surgeon who done my surgery to ask if this was normal etc. I was referred back to the surgeon who done ultrasounds and xrays, everything came back clear and was told it was nothing to do with the surgery. So she referred me to ENT. My appointment was yesterday 4th Dec 2019. I had camera up my nose and down my throat. Doctor said something was bigger and thicker on my right hand side at the back of my tongue. He has requested an Mri of my neck to be done in the next 2 weeks. My throat feels thick and tight and I have pain down my neck going along my collarbone. Don't think I would have panicked as much until he said about getting the Mri done so quick as we all know these appointments can take months. Im worried sick now xx
