First of all let me reassure you that borderline changes are NOT cancer. You have the HPV virus which almost all of the sexually active population have come in contact with and when it is active, certain strains can cause cell changes in your cervix. The fact that you have gone for cervical screening means that these changes have been picked up very early before they can develop further.

It’s extremely common to have the results you have been given, so please try not to worry about getting cervical cancer. xx

Thanks for getting back to me I think it's my bleeding between periods that's made me more scared then getting these results as in the past my smears has always been clear. I think I am just over thinking it all but just going wait patiently (on edge) for my appointment at hospital to come through. 

I hope you don’t have too long to wait for your appointment and that there’s a straightforward explanation for the bleeding, though I appreciate it’s an anxious time. xx

Hi Elaine88. Could you give me an update on how everything went? I am in the same position as you. My letter arrived last week to say I have borderline abnormal cells and HPV positive. I also have random bleeding in between periods and after sex. its the bleeding I am more concerned about and then the letter has sent my thoughts into overdrive x

its such a worrying time I defo know how you will be feeling. They said I had slight abnormal changes so nothing really to worry about. I go back in December for another check up but I'm still having bleeding after sex and spotting when I shouldn't. Maybe it's down to my implant so I'm going to get it taken out I think. Are you on any contraception if you don't mind me asking? Your mind will be doing over time just try be strong as possible and take your mind off it. Defo easier said then done xx

Hi. I just wanted to post on here as for the past month I've been Googling and came across so many of these chats after I received a letter saying I had borderline abnormal cells and HPV. 

ive spent the last month worrying constantly to point i couldn't sleep and kept worrying it was more serious. 
today I've been and ALL was fine. No abnormal cells and hpv clearing up. 
So I just wanted to post if anyone else has had this and is worrying please try not to. 
the consultant said to me today basically borderline means near enough normal and majority of time sorts itself.
