Mum

My mum has got stage 3 lung cancer and they told her she has 12 month with chemo or 6 months without, that was last March.  She has been doing so well on the chemo but i went to see her last weekend (I live over 200 miles away) and as i have not seen her for a couple of weeks i noticed she was alot more confused and extremely tired.  My dad has called today and said she is constantly sick and has not got out of bed for 2 days. I have told him to call the McMillan Nurse who is coming today.  I dont know if this is a bug or something i should be concerned about and need to travel to see her tonight.  There is only me as my sister died suddenly a couple of years ago. Any advice?

  • Hi skdc,

If it was me I would go and see her. My mum didn't have cancer but fibrosis of the lungs. On the 22nd dec 2015 we couldn't contact her, I managed to contact a sister who lives near by  (I live 3hours away) when she arrived my mum had collapsed but said she was just tired, many times I asked my sister should I come and see her but I was always told shes fine just tired and in bed. 5:00am 23rd dec i got a call from my sister saying my mum had passed away. I now live with that regret that I wasnt with her when she passed. I too am now going through the cancer battle with my m-i-l she may go any time now.

Take care and make sure you and your dad look after each other x
