Worried about breast lump

I found a breast lump a few weeks ago.. Initially I waited to see if it would go by itself but after 4 weeks it was still there so I saw GP.. She wasn't reassuring at all, just felt and said she could feel it and referred me to breast clinic which I have appointment for on the 10th.. It is a hard lump that doesn't move at all, and yes,I stupidly googled and am convinced it is cancer.. I flit between feeling very calm about it to being in a pit of total despair.. Has anyone had a non moving solid lump that turned out to be harmless?? My partner knows, but I haven't told my children, hoping I will not need to.. Feel utterly sick with worry about it all today..

  • Hello Catt1975,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to be seen at the breast clinic but luckily it won't be long now until the 10th when you will be seen by the specialists.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. Dr Google as many will tell you here is not to be trusted and will always throw the worst case scenarios. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
