Diagnosed Thymic Carcinoma

Hi, it's taken me a while, but I came on here to see if anyone else is dealing with thymic cancer, as I was diagnosed with thymic carcinoma six months ago, which from what I've been told is a rare cancer and as such it's been difficult to find anyone going through a similar situation to talk to and as you can imagine it's hard to talk to my family about things.

I'm 35 and I've been going through chemo (currently had 5 of 6 cycles of cisplatin), as my doctor wanted to start with a treatment they know works, rather than go down the trial route with immunotherapy, as my cancer has spread to my bones (metastatic) and I wondered if anyone else has found it has made a difference?

  • Hello Streamr,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

I can understand that having a rare cancer like this can make you feel isolated but I'm sure they want to understand what you're going through so I'd encourage you to talk to them to help them understand. I thought this page here might be useful and there are also some tips on coping with side effects. Our team of nurses I available to speak to from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You can call them for free on 0808 800 4040.

    All the best,
