Worried

Hi I'm looking for a bit of reassurance I guess. 4 weeks ago I had a very small red mark appear on my breast and a dull ache in my arm pit, the red mark faded almost over night to a purple bruise like mark - no pain though. A few days later another slightly bigger red mark appeared and exactly the same happened almost over night it faded to a purple colour. I continued to have the achy pain in my arm pit and had a nerve kind of pain down the back of the arm. I got an appointment immediately with my dr. She suspected mastitis as I had flu like symptoms the week before the marks appeared. After a course of antibiotics none of the symptoms got any better. I went to see a different dr who didn't think it was mastitis and didn't seem very concerned as there is no skin thickening or anything else to suggest anything. She thought they would fade. I've just been back to see another dr as it has no been 4 weeks with no improvements, the side of my breast feels like a bruised pain and a pain goes across my chest. My arm aches right down to my wrist. The dr today seemed very rushed but again didn't seem very worried as she couldn't feel anything. She thought maybe a muscle strain - and just dismissed the marks. I've been going out of my mind with worry over the past month, and although I've seen three different drs who don't seem concerned I still can't help myself worrying.

    Hi Appy,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your breast changes and the fact that they don't seem to be settling down completely.

Do you have a young family and are you aware of having knocked your breasts recently?

You should feel assured that there is nothing wrong after seeing three different GPs. We all know our own bodies best and, if you still feel that something is not right, then why not ask your GP for a referral to the breast clinic? The doctors there have more experience in dealing with cancer and will usually run some tests if there is any doubt at all.

I do hope that you get to the bottom of this soon and can put your mind to rest.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
