Life after distal pancreatomy

I had a cyst removed from tail of pancreas on 18 oct 2019. Stayed in hospital 7 days. Its benign. I'm recovering at home 5 weeks. Had tramadol for pain relief which I'm off and suffered awful withdrawal symptoms main one in sleeplessness. Pain comes and goes and manageable and taking paracetamol only. Feel tired most days but eating and walking better. Wanted to know if anyone gone through this. I'm 45 years old. First major surgery so was terrified. Great family support and medical. I'm hoping to fo back to work next week and got a ct scan as I should not have any pain so getting it checked out.

  • Hi Madhu and welcome to the forum.

I'm really glad that your cyst was benign although I'm sorry you're still experiencing pain since you had the operation.

Hopefully some of our members that have had this done will pop by when they can to share their advice and experiences with you but do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you want to have a chat with them about this. You can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope all goes well with your CT scan and your return to work next week.

    Kind regards,
