Hospital referral

I'm sorry to bother anyone/everyone, but would like some guidance if possible...

I was admitted to hospital a couple of weeks ago, with a pleural effusion. Tests were carried out, and they drained a litre of fluid out of my pleural sac.

I then (2 weeks later) got a follow-up appointment confirmed for January 23rd.

Having chased matters to find out what it was for, and having no idea what is wrong with me, I was informed yesterday I now have an appointment on the 26th November, following a Multi Specialist Discussion (MSD) yesterday.

I still don't know what's going on. Does an appointment suddenly arranged so much earlier mean it could be, but might not be, cancer?

Does the fact that I'm now being seen a lot sooner than January 23rd, following the MSD, give me reason to worry?

Any advice is massively appreciated!

  • Hi Agent_X,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Unfortunately there's no real way to tell what the reason for the change in appointment might be. It's best if you can to try not to assume anything one way or the other.

It's good that it's not too much longer for you to wait now for the appointment - do make sure to take any questions you have with you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
