Haemorrhagic cyst a calcified fibroid and raised ca125

Hi all , hoping someone can give me some advice as I'm currently losing my mind with my symptoms and tests results,

all started a few months ago my periods started getting heavier than usual not massively but noticeable, then I developed a stitch like pain in my left side low down with a slight burning sensation above my pubic bone  (not constant ) but often , then a dull back ach that was around ALOT and right in the tailbone area. I went doctors who sent me for a ultrasound and found a 5cm cyst ( harmmoragic cyst ) in my left ovary and a tiny fibroid in my cervix,  I then had to have lots of blood tests and my ca125 came back raised at 51 other blood test was fine. I'm now terrified I have ovarian cancer ! I'm 31 with 2 babies.  If anyone has any advice or similar stories  it would be greatly appreciated if you could share them with me ️ I'm in with the urgent referral gynaecologist on Friday .

  •  If it helps, my CA125 was nearly two hundred, and the cysts when removed were benign. I think  one turned  out to be hemorrhagic too, that was ok too.  I understood that if I was younger they would have monitored them for a while to see if they went on their own, but being post menopause that would be unlikely.  I hope your appointment goes well x

  • Thank you , I wasn't sure weather having the cyst could bring the levels up ! As the cyst was found before the ca125 test. Did you have painful symptoms with your cyst ? X

  • Difficult as I always had bad cyclical pains before, mid cycle and during, and heavy bleeding and clots that slowly got worse.  I am sure I had some cysts growing and bursting on my left side due to two episodes of very extreme pain and unable to move, even to get to the phone, finally passing out in same position on floor, but pain gone next day. So all settled down post menopause.

However, I did also start to get a 'tailbone' pain before menopause that hurt on and off, more on than off recently.  I put some of that down to age .....   as it seemed to sort of creep up on me over a few years until it got hard to get comfortable in bed, especially when turning.  I am still getting over the op so have some different pains due to that, that are slowly clearing,  however, that tailbone pain does not seem to be back (yet) and I have now had a few days without any paracetamol and  moving around much more.

I think CA125 is even less reliable when younger, hence they don't have any method of screening.  They are putting mine down to cysts and mainly previously undiagnosed endometriosis.

I have spent quite a bit of time terrified, mainly the waiting time before I got to talk to the specialist,  then I calmed down. Then I panicked yet again at the thought of an operation and anaesthetic.    All sorts goes through your head and it is so hard to keep it in perspective when evryone else seems to be going about as normal!

  • Oh wow you have been through it haven't you! I'm so glad to here that your on the mend and I feel much better hearing your story so thank you for sharing it ️
