Cervical ectropion

Hi. I'm sorry to be posting on here when I don't have a cancer diagnosis. I've had unusual gynae symptoms now for over a year. In March I had vulva biopsies taken and they came back normal apart from two areas of inflammation. The pain, burning, discharge have continued and in Sept I had a very small amount of bleeding mid cycle. I've had continuous discharge too for a long time and heavy periods. My GP said it's probably thrush, didn't examine me and gave me canesten cream. I decided to see a private gynaecologist. On Monday evening he did a transvaginal scan and he said he was also doing an examination like a smear but not taking a swab. There was a big shining light and something he was using internally to examine cervix. I should say at this point my last smear was Oct 2017 and normal. Anyway, the gynae said my transvaginal scan was normal and all he found on examination was a very small cervical ectropion, which he said probably explains the discharge. He said, 'They are common and usually benign'. Well of course I've now latched on to the fact he said 'usually'. I've since read too that they happen when someone is on the pill, but I haven't been for 7 years! I'm 38, so I'm in the 'child bearing' range for it to be common, but still, I'm worried it could be early stage cc. Something I should have checked with him, which I didn't think of after I left was whether the cervix would show on a transvaginal scan and would any worrisome cervical abnormalities be visible on there?? I know how paranoid I sound and I know he's the expert, but I'm worried it could be something else and it's just being left. He said things like that can be frozen off, but there's no rush to do it. My main concern is reading this happens to people on the pill or who've just had a baby, but my youngest child is 3 and I'm not on any contraception, so this is why I'm so concerned it's something else. Thanks for taking the time to read this x
