I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with mastitis recently. It can be very uncomfortable and as it hasn't resolved with the treatment that your GP has given you then it's really sensible for you to be seen at the breast clinic. 

It's totally understandable that you're feeling concerned that something may be wrong but try to keep in mind that the large majority of women who attend breast clinic aren't diagnosed with breast cancer. You certainly have age on your side and it's very possible that the lump and the mastitis are related to each other but the best way forward is for you to be seen by the specialist.
