Making lots of new friends!

Hi guys,

really lovely to meet you all even if it is under sad circumstances. I have browsed the forum for a while now and decided it was time to join and form some great supportive friendships. I’ve lost a few loved ones through cancer and really understand how tough the journey is for everyone.

i really do welcome friend requests or private messages to get chatting but on this thread would also be really nice :)

i’m 23 and currently work as a financial consultant. That’s a small bit about me and I’m looking forward to learning more about each of you.

Love,

    Hi Sweetbiscuit,

Welcome to our forum. Do you have cancer yourself - if so can you share a little of your journey so far? I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer - the first was 10 years ago and the secon was 9 years ago. Like yourself, I have also lost both of my parents plus many other family members and close friends to cancer.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

Lovely to meet you. I do not have cancer myself but have had previous scares which is why i originally started reading the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your two bouts of BC, how are things now? i'm sure that has been hard both times and i'm sure you still deal with the aftermath worries.

Yes i have lost two grandparents to lung cancer and another grandad to a brain tumour. Also i have a friend that has been diagnosed with BC and is taking it very hard and i really find reading things on this site helpful with how i care for her during this difficult time. She has been through so much in such a short period of time, and it was a freak diagnosis after her mum was told she was terminal and doctors told her daughters to get tested for the BC gene. Long story short my friend was positive and they actually found a lump in the mammogram... crazy and very sad news as you can imagine.

    love,

    Hi Sweetbiscuit

It sounds as if you have had a rough time. How long ago was your friend diagnosed with breast cancer? It is always particularly difficult at the beginning, as there are so many unknowns. Do you know what type of breast cancer she has or what grade her cancer is?

It must be very difficult for her going through all of this, knowing that her mum is terminal. She is lucky to have a friend like you who really cares. I am sure that you will see several posts where your experience will be invaluable. We have a gutsy lot of people on this site, who are doing their best to beat this dreaded disease and, we all try to help one another. It is so much easier to speak to others who have been through this rather than upsetting family and friends who haven't.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi seabiscuit44 and welcome, you'll find some people don't like to move about they're not sure what to do so it might help if you look for them, it's nice if you to help thars plenty of nervous new comers daily,. in case you don't look I'm fairly new to forum (not a year yet) I'm stage 4 uncurable, I'm just waiting with my uninvited guest, but i try to help others then it helps me to feel better, (if that makes sense) any way again welcome..... • Hi Jolamine

my friend was diagnosed about 6 months ago now but she very much fell off the grid for a while and wouldn’t contact anybody, I’ve only really only just started getting some updates mostly from her family. I know the cancer was stage 3 but I’m not sure of the type of BC, unfortunately I wasn’t as clued up to know about all the different types when she first told me so I never asked!

honestly the first thing to stand out from this site was how lovely everybody was at supporting each other, regardless of the different journeys.

    Love,

  • Hi Billy,

so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but you seem to be handling it well & keeping positive. Taking each day as it comes and not dwelling on what may never happen is the best attitude to have! I have seeen your posts around the forum and it seems you’re a very supportive part of the community! Thanks for stopping bye and saying hi, I’ll make sure to spread my wings and go find some people that don’t always move around :)
