Lumps & night sweats

Hi guys.

So I started off with really bad night sweats which have gradually calmed I can sleep now but wake up in a pool of sweat.. I had a urine test done last week which have come back clear but now I have noticed what i assume are the lymph nodes in my throat are swollen I don't have my tonsils so it isnt them... Underchin area back of neck at base of my skull and behind my ear on the bone, although any lump is worth getting checked the worse one I have is I have noticed what looks to be a golf ball size abnormality on the side one of my breasts. It doesnt feel like anything but I am starting to worry. Any help or advice is appreciated

****I do have an appointment to see my GP****

Thank you all. J

  • Hello Jemmywemmy

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with some health problems and that you've found this lump.

It's great that you've already made an appointment to see your GP as they will be able to do a proper examination, order any tests or make a referral if they feel it is appropriate. I hope that you don't have to wait too long for these and that you have some news soon.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

From reading about your sypmtoms, it sounds to me like you may have Hodgkins Lymphoma. I am not saying that is what it is as I am not a medical expert, however the swollen lymph glands and night sweats are something that points that way. I have recently been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, and in the appointments such as blood tests, CT scans etc, Drs have asked if I have been having nightsweats, which in my case I don't so it is possible you have the Non Hodgkins type of Lymphoma.

It's great that you are going to the GP as, I noticed my collarbone area had swollen months ago and had shrugged it off as a possible work related strain, but it wasn't until about 7 weeks ago I noticed a few smaller lumps higher up my neck, that I thought I should get it checked out.

I do hope it's nothing serious, however, if it it turns out to be Hodgkins, then I was told in my diagnosis, that it is curable with a success rate of 80%, so there is a positive sign.

  • Hi thank you. I am waiting on test results and further tests to be done I will keep you updated!

  • You're most welcome  :)

It's a scary thing to have to think about, I hated the 6 weeks of not knowing what was causing my swollen lymph nodes, because my Dr said it may be cancer, so I do understand what you're going through.

  • Hello,

I hope you are well. Did you find out what it was? My boyfriend is going through something similar and I am terrified

  • Hi there. I hope you don't mind me jumping on the chat but I have a question. I have been to the go about a lump in the back of my neck and a lump in my groin, which is now turning into many lumps in my groin area. I saw the dr a week ago and had blood test yesterday, but for the last week I have been having the most awful night sweats, where I am having to change my night clothes and the duvet covers and it's really affecting my sleep (I have 3 children so need the sleep I do manage to get)

Is it worth calling my dr and mentioning this too her? Or shall I just wait a week for my bloods to come back?

    Thank you x

  • Hi there,

Before I was daignosed with cancer, and within the first months of treatment, a common symptom I was asked about were these "night sweats". My body temperature at night has always been quite warm (which my girlfriend always seems to take advantage of especially in winter) so I never really had an issue with that.

But don't put it off. Tell the gp how you're feeling, any symptoms, lumps/bumps etc and where, as the sooner you mention it the better. I put off going to the gp about the swelling in my neck, and now I wish I hadn't, I should have gone sooner. 9 months on, 3rd type of chemo, 1 failed picc line inserton, 1 port insertion, and a stem cell transplant having to be postponed.

    Please go to the Dr

    Stay safe, all the best

    Tim
