Mole Removal

Hello,

I'm going to have a mole removed at the hospital. I'm currently waiting for the letter to reveal when the surgery will be and its been two weeks so far.

I'm just concerned that within this two weeks my mole is continuing to change.

When I saw the gp it was becuase the mole had gotten bigger, darker, scalier and there was yellow pigments surrounding it.

When I saw the plastic surgeon at my referal the mole was then flaking and the edges where more bumpy.

Now the black/dark brown top is peeling off revealing a red/pink mole in its place and the edges are more iregular.

I guess when my letter arrives I may have to wait another two weeks to have the mole removed but over the space of a month and these last weeks its the amount of change it has gone through that is now starting to worry me. I know it will be removed but I wonder if maybe I should contact my gp in the mean time and show them the sudden change it is having.

Just hoping it's nothing scary but the red mole thats now making an apperance, when its alway been a brown oval, is worrying to see.

  • Hi,

I can understand your worry if the mole is changing whilst you wait for it's removal. Although it's changing on the skin it's actually what it's doing below the skin that is important. A change on the skin doesn't necessarily mean it's growing below the skin but it's still worrying for you. Can I suggest that you keep a photographic record of the changes and also ring your consultant's secretary - explain the changes and ask if they can give you any indication of how long It will be for your surgery. They may try and get you in quicker. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
