Abdominal Masses

Hi everyone

Newbie here and would like to ask for some advice.

Let me start from the beginning, in February I came down with the Flu and ended up with an infected leg that wouldn’t heal.  After 11 courses of antibiotics, I was walking to work and it was like I was walking through thick soup and very breathless.

Then I woke up one morning at 3am in agony with my leg. My husband took me to A&E and they then told me my blood levels, iron levels and haemoglobin were low and I was admitted.  I then had to go for a ct scan and they found a mass on the right side of my abdomen (10x13x7 cm).  There was also some enlarged lymph nodes too.  There is a mass on the left side by kindney and one the outside of my womb - all of them are calcified.

I have seen a consultant who has said that he doesn’t think these are malignant but can’t be sure until biopsy is done.  Had this done now but I am still worried that these could be cancerous.

Would anyone have any advice?

  • Hi Moore75,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Unfortunately I'm unable to advise on your situation, only to say that it is of course natural and understandable to be worried when there is uncertainty like this.

Some people find it helps to keep busy and to carry on as normally as possible until you find out more. Perhaps try not to assume anything as far as the results are concerned, just keep yourself distracted - and hopefully you don't have to wait too much longer for the results.

    Wishing you all the best,
