Fibroadenoma

Hi, just looking for some advice. I found a lump 3 years ago, got it all checked out and after a biopsy I was told it was a fibroadenoma. I've just been monitoring it ever since.

About 1 year ago I started to get pain from it which has been increasing over time so I decided to go back to the GP to get it checked out again. One doctor gave me the option of getting it removed and then a follow up appointment with a different doctor was not so keen on the idea because she said the pain might not be resolved afterwards and cause more lumps. Most of the stuff I've read people dont seem to be in any pain with their lump. Has anyone else experienced this and did the pain resolve after it being removed?

  • Hi Dmccabe and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing pain from your fibroadenoma. Fibroadenomas are usually painless, but sometimes they may feel tender or even painful, particularly just before a period.
I'm afraid that I'm not able to help with your particular question but you may want to give our team of nurses a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm). They may be better able to help with some advice and information.

    Best wishes,
