  • Hi Miriam

Please try not to panic and overthink this. The hpv virus is extremely common, and once you have it you will always have it in your body although a good immune system can cause it to be inactive. When it is active, it can cause abnormal cells.

Borderline cell changes do not mean cancer. It just means that you will need to have an appointment for the gynaecologist to take a closer look at your cervix, called a colposcopy. This procedure is similar to having a smear test. Further action will depend on what is found. It could be that you are monitored more closely and the abnormal cells may revert back to normal, or you could need a procedure to get rid of the abnormal cells.

Your cell changes have been picked up early which is a really good thing, and I wish you all the best for your appointment. xx
