Low Grade Dyskaryosis

Hello ladies, I’m not sure if I’m posting at the right section but have been reading all your comments. I just received my letter letting me know I have “low grade dyskaryosis. High risk HPV detected”.

can someone again explain does this mean that I most likely have HPV but it’s not confirmed? Also what are the chances you will get infection after a treatment is done and how many women get complications? I don’t mind the procedure I just fear the potential infection.

Thank you xx

  • Hello Madjarova and welcome to the chat

Your  letter says hpv detected, so yes, you do have the hpv virus which is extremely common among the population. Low grade dyskaryosis means that the hpv virus has caused some abnormalities in your cells, but these are not cancer. They will need some investigation to determine the next course of action-sometimes low grade abnormal cells are not treated immediately as it is possible that they will return to normal. However, the gynaecologist would make a decision on further investigation. I don’t have any information on infection risks and complications, so you may want to contact one of the nurses on the site for further clarification. However, try not to get ahead of yourself just yet thinking about complications before you know what is going to happen next. Have you got an appointment for further tests? xx
