Lump in breast

Hi Iam a female in my fifties have seen a doctor today about a lump in my breast just below my nipple. She said to come back in 3 to 4 weeks if still there. I also have a bruise in the same area. There is no pain but my breast seems larger. I have no idea where the bruise came from. The lump seems to be attached to something at the back of my breast so when I lay down and the flesh moves  the lump and bruise are seperate. Does this make sense?. I once had a lump biopsy years ago which luckily was nothing but at that time my doctor said any lump should be investigated so I'm confused to why I have been sent away to worry.  Can anyone tell me if this is the procedure please.

Thank you

  • Hi Debbie,

ive recently had a similar experience and was referred to a breast clinic. I believe every lump and bump should be checked out to be safe so I’d insist on a referral to the breast clinic if I were you. I’m sure you are fine but it never hurts to be sure and have that certainly rather than worrying for another month.

Let me know how it goes. Hope you’re ok.

  • Thank you Nikki I hope all was well with you. The doctor was just so disinterested I was a little shocked. I have been misdiagnosed by a doctor before and so I am always a bit sceptical of a brush off. I will let you know how I get on. I will probably give it a week and if no change I will go see someone else.
