TC/Epididymitis

So hubby got diagnosed with Epididymitis with no other symptom apart from swelling of one teste within two days for no reason and a red sac. They did a scan which showed ‘abcesses’ Which they are saying is relating to the Epididymitis but can’t rule out testicular cancer at this stage. We asked for bloods to be done, due to family history of cancer which they said take these antibiotics for ten days and we will re scan you and do bloods then. Surely, with his family history and lack of other symptoms like fever etc they should have done more testing there and then? I feel we have been fobbed off a little. He has lower back pain, and I’m sure he has said in the last couple of months ‘don’t touch me there, I’m a bit tender’. Didn’t think anything of it until today, he took a pregnancy test as this can check hcg levels although not a great idea? It was negative but I’m a bit concerned about these ‘abcesses’

  • Hi Dragonz199 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry you're feeling a little fobbed off by your hubby's medical team but if the antibiotics don't work then at least you will be able to press forward with the tests you were hoping for originally.

This part of the process is always difficult but our members understand this and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Thank you, he's been back for another scan which they said some abcesses have shrunk with antibiotics but two doctors were not happy. They're now talking about removing the testicle and have done blood work but can't tell us if it's cancer until the teste is removed and tested! Is this normal? They keep saying oh it doesn't look nasty but we're not happy and can't rule anything out
