I apologise for tmi but here goes. I am 44 and over last few years have seen a change in my periods to the point of this year acting out of normal. I used to have fairly heavy bleeding for first 2 to 3 days and taper off after day 5 with nothing by day 7. About 3 years ago I started to see my periods extend to full 7 of bleeding then occasionally go to 8 days.

This year most months have extended to 8 days and one before current on stopped at day 7 then had a bleed on day 9 then stop. I am currently still bleeding from last Sunday 22nd but the flow has been on and off. The period struggled to start and then started properly on the Monday then tapered off on Thursday to point of stopping. Friday saw fresh blood which has been on and off. Normal post menstrual mucus over last two days but with fresh blood in it (sorry graphic!).

My history - 13 years ago CIN 2 detected on smear and treated - no problems since. 4 years ago one episode of bleeding just after finishing period and after sex - polyp on cervix found and removed. 3 years ago when period started to extend had reassurance to leave it (cervix was checked but no ultrasound). Had a missed period sometime between then and now. Was having lots of PMT symptoms but has stopped this year. Had a cervical polyp removed around 3 weeks ago when I saw Dr regarding last period as worried. 

I have returned to Drs as this period alarming me. They booked me in for ultrasound 4-6 week wait. I have changed this to a private ultrasound this Saturday as becoming increasingly upset by the bleeding.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?
