worried

Hello everyone,

This is my first ever time posting..anywhere so im not sure how to start but basically I’ve been getting pains under my left rib for almost a year, doctors always fobbed me off and now it’s got a lot worse with pain in my lower back and sometimes a strang numbness in the lower back.  Also pain of either side of my upper back by my shoulders either on different days. I have pain down where both of my ovaries are situated and pain in the centre of my abdomen with a strange sensation in my chest, kinda burning but it’s not heart burn. Also stomach is always bloated and tender even if I haven’t eaten all day and night. Pain also in my left breast with redness in one area for a couple of days last week.  Lastnight I had trouble sleeping the pain was soo bad. I had a CA125 test done and my levels were slightly raised at 31 and was told that they needed to look into my ovaries so sent me for a CT scan which I had done this Sunday. And now it’s just a waiting game. I’m just soo worried as I have a 20 month old son. Can any give me some advice? Thank you

  • Dear worried mummy, it's extremely difficult to be in this situation but you'll soon have some results from your scan and any concerns will be addressed.  When you have a baby it takes a while for everything to settle down and reading your list I can tell you that I had all of those symptoms but never had any severe illnesses from them and I'm now a lot older.  Try not to think the worst, my husband has cancer and trust me worrying about the outcome got us nowhere, worry makes you ill and you concentrate on what's wrong rather than what's alright.  Post again if you want to, or let us know how you get on.  Hugs your way, Carol

  • Thank you for responding Dor06,

im just really worried as I had an ultrasound in April because of the pain I was having under my left rib and and something was found on one of my ovaries. I was told that it could be a cyst or a follicle and was referred to a gynaecologist. My appointment was in June but my car broke down when I was on my way to my appointment so I never got there so it was rebooked for Oct. so I’m still waiting for that appointment. I was also referred to a gastroenterologist and had my first appointment in June and was sent for an endoscopy on my stomach but all came back normal. So on my follow up appointment which was on the 6th sept, that’s when I had blood tests done and was told that CA125 level is 31. And I had a CT scan on Sunday. But I’m just really scared as I knew about this thing on my ovary in April. And the pains just seem to be getting worse and spreading. My left breast even hurts and redness comes and goes. I have terrible bloating and constant diarrhea. My aunty passed away from cancer and I’ve seen what it can do and it terrifies me but not for me but for my young son.  I really appreciate you getting back to me. And I wish you and your husband all the best. Cy

  • Hello again, we all have someone who's passed away from cancer, but what you need to know is that treatment has moved on so much, I know pain is worrying and that you've had problems with your ovary, but your endoscopy was clear, I suffered with IBS and so do my daughters, all symptoms are as you described, worrying makes it so much worse, stress is hard on your body and when we have a little one to look after our health worries us more.  Just try and stay calm, enjoy your little one and don't Google, it tells you what you think is wrong because it covers all symptoms and its the worst case scenario.  I'm on this forum most days as I write a blog so chat if you're worried.  Stay strong,  Carol x
