hi mate,
what chemo are you having. I’m on my second cycle of BEACOPP. It’s not got a fantastic reputation forvside affects but non are good!
Hi there
I'm currently going through ABVD, I've had 3 doses and they will scan me after the 4th to see if anything is working and then they might increase me the beacopp or reduce my dose.
I must say the first week of every two week round is hellish. Nausea no matter what tablets I take and Ive been admitted twice for dehydration due to diahrea - soz for the tmi. I find that I feel a lot better after day 8 and almost back to normal by day 13- at least for now, although I'm aware it has a cumulative effect and my fatigue is likely to get worse with each treatment.
Wishing you well
Rose
hi there, i'm having the same as Rose ABDV, do you have lymphmona, you don't say,. i've not seen or heard of your treatment, but keep in touch and all the best to you, i think we all have to be brave
Hi rose,i'm on ABvd and i agree with you the side effects are horrendous, as for the nausea i'm taking Ondansetron and metoclopramide and my consultant has said the four days after chemo when its worse that i can take them both at the same time which does help me through.i have had my PET scan and been told the treatment is working on my Lymphoma so hang in there Rose. i too have had to go to hospital for dehydration. a big hug from me
boxy.
So glad to hear your PET has shown a positive result- I think that news probably makes the side effects marginally more tolerable because you know it's atleast working. I am nervous but also interested for mine, in about 2-3 weeks. My main concern is the timeframe I'll have to deal with fertility issues before they get me on BEACOPP as they said it's pretty much certain I'll become infertile.
I'm on ondansetron and cyclizine - they first gave me cyclizine through an IV line when I was admitted and it was perfect. It knocked me out in about 10 mins and the nurses had a trouble to wake me for my obs! But it gave me the respite I needed, managing to finally get some sleep and keep the nausea at bay.
I've found the tablets don't do the job half as well. I'm glad they don't knock me out to the point of sleeping for 6 hours however really would be nice if they work better on the nausea. I have to have a domperidone top up three times a day too.
I could tolerate a chocolate from the milk tray in my room today though, now on day 8, so think I will have to resign myself to the first 7 days being diabolical and then making up for it for the next 7!! So glad to be on the up, just so frustrating knowing in a few days I'll be feeling rubbish again.
How have you found other side effects or is it mainly the nausea that effects you?
Rose
