Hi,
Brand new member here, just wanted to introduce myself after spending some time lurking around.
I was diagnosed this week with ovarian cancer at stage 4. It’s taken about a month and a half to get my formal diagnosis. I’m 43 and feel very lucky that things have moved on so quickly.
I’m also very grateful for my GP who asked for the CA125 in my blood test when I initally went in complaining of prolonged bloating, tiredness and feeling breathless.
At the moment I’m still coming to terms with it all. It’s been a right rollercoaster to be honest. Hardest part has been hands down all the waiting and the endless tests. There’s been a few oversights and bumps on the road but overall I’m very grateful for the NHS.
I’m due to have a few more tests and scans before I start chemo, week after next I think.
I don’t have a partner or children, but my friends and family have been incredbly supportive. Although things are looking dire I’m gearing up for a fight and aim to stay as positive as I can.
Sending lots of strength and love to anyone else who’s just been diagnosed as well as those at the other parts of this very difficult journey.
S
