Biopsy results.

Hi,

I’m new here and I’m just after a little reassurance really?!

I had a Colposcopy after an urgent smear referral following the discovery of possible CGIN roughly two weeks ago. The consultant took a biopsy and told me that I would receive my results in the post.

Well - yesterday, I received a phone call asking me to go today to see the consultant to discuss my results and have a scan. It obviously came as a bit of a shock as I wasn’t expecting it so I was just wondering if anybody else had had this happen? I asked if I had anything to be worried about and the lady said that I just really needed to go in and see them. Also, I’ve absolutely no idea what type of scan to expect - has anybody any ideas??

Thank you so much.x

  • Hi Eaton

You’ve replied to my post but addressed it to VicKat. I can’t see where she has said about results the same day or about no spread. Confused! xx

  • Hi Minska

Not sure what went wrong but here is VicKat1’s response. X

    Hi Eaton

I’m sorry to hear your news...but yes, it’s very treatable. I found the CT scan much preferable to the mri, although I was really scared in case it showed a spread. It didn’t, and hopefully you will find exactly the same. Keep us posted as you go along. Always here for any support if you need it. xx

  • Hi Eaton,

That was my response to VicKat..but I didn’t get scan results the same day. That has never happened for me and I’ve had several MRI and CT scans. I was stage 2b, so a hysterectomy wasn’t possible for me-just chemo and radiation. xx

  • Hi ladies,

Sorry to hear your news Eaton but glad that like me we can look forward to seeing the back of it with a little help from the professionals! No MRI results yet - they have an MDT on Tuesday and will call me with the decision made.

I find that the waiting is by far the worst part - I’m a firm believer that knowledge is power so having little knowledge puts me on the back foot a bit!!

How are you feeling about a hysterectomy Eaton??

Thank you, as always, for your information Minska.

    xxxxxxxx

  • Hi VicKat1 and Minska

Yes I totally agree that the waiting and lack of knowledge is very hard.

I received a call Friday afternoon from MRI dept to say they had a cancellation for Sat am which I jumped at to speed things up. I was told that the results are instant to the consultant but have to wait for them to get back to me with the results.

If I am told that I need a hysterectomy I will be over the moon as it means it hasn’t spread enough,  and once done I will be rid of this blessed C. I am just over 50 and already passed menopause do it won’t matter to me apart from impact of being off work for 6 weeks but I can live with that as long as I know it has gone.

Fingers crossed for both of us VicKat1 that is all we will have to face. Xx

  • Hi VicKat1

apologies but my last comment may have been very insensitive toward you as I do not know your situation. Xx

  • Hi Eaton.

Not insensitive at all!! I’m 40, have two wonderful daughters so I’m one of the lucky ones! I too am hoping they just whip it all out and I’ll find out after the MDT tomorrow

I’ll let you know how it goes and please keep me posted on how things are progressing for you!

    Good luck

    Xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Hi VicKat1

just wanted to wish you the best of luck for tomorrow. Hoping and praying for a good result for you.

I will let you know when I get my results.

    Xxxxx

  • Hi Eaton,

I now know that I’ll have to have surgery of some description. I know it’s not a LLETZ as they’d do that locally so I’m guessing a hysterectomy but the nurse on the phone wouldn’t go into detail so I’ve got to wait until I’ve had a CT scan and seen the consultant.

Once again good luck and keep me posted! Xxx

  • Hi VicKat1

The fact that you need surgery I am hoping is a positive. if it had spread to lymph nodes that wouldn’t be an option according to my consultant as you  would need chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Still hoping and praying for a good result for you.

I am still waiting on my results. Just out of interest how long was your mri scan? Mine was 60 minutes but I thought it was only going to be 20/30 mins? Xxx
