Biopsy results question

Hey, I'm new here, found out about this forum after getting an abnormal smear test, so was using it for advice during that time. So wondered if anyone could help me.

So I had my smear, results came back severe dyskariosis. Had a colposcopy, 2 biopsies taken. The doctor showed me on the screen, and in the pics, the white area where the cells were abnormal, and said she would call it moderate not severe. My results have come back today no CIN no HPV, and they've said as the smear and biopsy results don't match they're asking the lab to review the results. Has this ever happened to anyone before, and if so, what was the overall outcome. I'm worried the results have come back no CIN when I saw the abnormal area for myself, and that it might be overlooked, then in a few years the worst happens

  • Hello Mal90 and welcome to Cancer Chat!

I can understand why you are finding this rather puzzling. I hope the lab will provide an explanation to explain this discrepancy.

I hope you will hear from others to whom this has happened and that they will be along soon to share their experience with you.  If you are worried about this, perhaps you could ask your doctor for advice on this, whether they think it might be worth repeating the tests?

Our nurses might also be available to shed some light on your situation or point you in the right direction. Feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040. Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope you get some clarity on this very soon.

    Best wishes,
