Waiting to hear from Clinic for my appointment! Scared

Hi all,

I seen my doctor on Monday as I found a large prominent lump in my left breast that you can feel whilst sitting up. I am 43 and my doctor said I’m in the age bracket now and I have Breast Cancer in the family. I am really scared but trying to take it 1 day at a time whilst waiting on appt.

Has anyone else in the same boat as me and who recently had there lump examined have there appointment from clinic yet.

I am just trying to get an idea on how long it can take to be seen. Thank you in advance if you respond.

  • Hi

I suppose it depends on area, if there's history etc there's usually a rapid response and that's about 2 weeks from referral, even though my lumps have been cysts because I'm in an higher risk bracket (genetics put me there) i got seen quite quickly last time.

Waiting is the pits but try to stay positive (and busy) and hopefully it won't be long and it will be good news x

  • Hey,

    Thanks  for replying!

I live in Swansea so I’m not sure if 2 weeks referral actually works from the breast clinic.

Whilst waiting I think I have found another lump. I am really nervous about the whole thing and just want appt so I can be told one way or the other... I feel the waiting is worst then anyone actually telling me that I have got BC.

    How are things with you??

  • Hi, first time I found lump I waited the maximum 18 weeks or whatever it was at the time and the person who did the scan said I had lots of small cysts, only through family history I get referred quicker. I agree not knowing/waiting is the worst.

I went to see rheumatologist and she told me I had cancer so this time there was an element of shock to say the least, but I don't know anymore than that, it's been 2 weeks and now I'm thinking they were wrong! Hopefully Mondays appointment will be more informative!!!

Take care and keep smiling x
