Worrying Changes to breasts after breastfeeding

Hi! So whilst I was breastfeeding I started to notice that after a feed one of my nipples would go inverted, not straight away but gradually over about an hour after a feed I just put it down to one of the effects of breastfeeding.

I’ve now stopped breastfeeding 3 months ago and it’s normally flat but when you would expect it not to be flat it goes inverted. Ive been getting ...not pain but just a bit of an uncomfortable feeling in the breast and behind the nipple like inside, hard to explain. I’ve never had this before breastfeeding and I’m getting a little concerned after doing some googling.

I was wondering if I should really be concerned and if anyone else has experienced this?

I would be grateful to hear about any similar experiences of post breastfeeding breast issues and what was the cause? Hate going to doctors, so hard to get an appointment and always feel like I’m waisting time.

Note: not sure if it makes a difference but I breastfed for 11months

Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum unicornsdollsandtrolls.

It's always a tad worrying when we notice changes but no-one here will be able to tell you what this means so the best thing to do is book an appointment to see your GP as they will be able to examine you and let you know if there is any cause for concern.

I know you're not a fan of going to the doctors and it can be difficult getting an appointment but you would not be wasting their time. If anything, they would want you to see them about something that is worrying you rather than leaving it unchecked.

Hopefully some words of support and encouragement from our members who have been in a similar position will give you the confidence to book an appointment and get some peace of mind.

    Kind regards,
