Lung cancer HPOA

Hi

I went to the doctor with what I thought were old aching bones and possibly the menopause a couple of weeks ago, after blood testydor numerous conditions there were lots of red flags for inflammation so sent for x-ray on knees hands and chest and another set of blood tests and a last minute appointment with rheumatologist.

I had the x-ray at 9:30 on Friday at 12 pm after examination and questions the Dr showed me my x-ray results and said sorry to say but we believe you have lung cancer - shocked is an understatement! Had the odd scare in the past with breast lumps, had dodgy cells removed from cervix years ago and recently womb biopsy on polyps but never in a million years did I suspect I'd walk in a room with polymyalgia rheumatica and walk out with lung cancer.

Have a CT scan on Thursday and a wee bit of my brain is telling me they'll say it's a mistake but in reality I'm sure doctors wouldn't tell you until they were sure ?

I'm being positive and I'll fight it all the way, having more trouble coping with upsetting other people with the news (just people I feel need to know for now)

Anyone else had something similar happen? My thoughts are I have no typical lung cancer symptoms so this is a good sign and it's been detected earlier than would of been without the symptoms that took me to the doctor or am I being delusional!!!!

  • Hello Varmint,

I noticed you posted a couple of years ago when you were waiting for your womb biopsy results and I wanted to welcome you back to our forum although I am very sorry about the reason that brings you back here.

I can imagine you were truly shocked even bewildered after the doctor told you this when you were not expecting it at all. It's great you have such a positive attitude and I hope you can find out more from the CT scan on Thursday - do let us know if you get a chance what the scan reveals, we are keeping everything crossed for you.

I hope you will hear from others on this forum who have had the same thing happen to them - it does help to talk to others in a similar situation.

Keep your great spirits Varmint and don't forget we are always here whenever you feel the need to chat or offload.

    Best wishes,
