Slightly enlarged tonsil on one side, worried about symptoms

To begin, im 20 years old and live a relatively healthy lifestyle. I exercise regularly, but as it’s been the summer holidays these last few months I’ve probably drunk and socially smoked roughly once a week since the beginning of June. It’s usually not too bad but I’ve recently got concerned about some symptoms I’ve Ben having... Dr google doesn’t help either!

essentially since just before the end of this university term, I’ve had a bad, almost poo like taste in the back of my throat. This isn’t always, but on and off and whenever I clear my throat.

My throat has been red quite a lot but not often in pain and the last month or so I’ve noticed my right tonsil is slightly larger than the left.

Every now and then I also feel as though there’s a lump in my throat or a pressure in my upper chest, it can make me feel the need to swallow more regularly.

Im starting to think a trip to the doctors might be worth it, but I’ve had a lot of other medical things going on this summer including a sigmoidoscopy for a stomach problem I’ve had for years and a diagnosis with 4th cranial nerve palsy in my eyes!

It makes me wonder whether I am just being paranoid or whether I do have some kind of sixth sense when something is wrong... I’m just unsure on what to do and whether I’m overreacting.

  • Hi, ring your gp today and get an appointment to be checked out. Share your symptoms, being anxious wont make you better, if it is something serious yiu will be glad you gavenr ignored your worries and if its hopefully not  you will be relieved that you have still got yiyrself ckecked out and its nothing. . Personally im 2 years in remission from tonsil cancer, doing brilluantly , i thank goodness i never  ignored a lump i could feel in my throat. Ps Besides the lump, i felt fine and didnt have a sore throat at all.   GET YOURSELF TO YOUR GP......you wont regret it......i hooe its nothing and your nerve palsy is dorted soon. Take care and be kind to yourself x

  • Hi.

    How did you get on?

Did your 4th nerve palsy go away?

    Regards,

    Ian.
