Recall after 1st mammogram

Hi

I had my first mammogram 4 weeks ago, and have received a recall letter. After nusing my mum through Lymphoma non-hodgkins and going through breast cancer with my friend, I am at my wits end.

I called the hospital and was told is was a low concern area at the back of the left breast. After reading the new letter, I have discovered that wearing deodrant is a no no. I did wear deodrant to the scan.

Can someone please tell me what a low concern is classed as please, as I am ill with worry,

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Apples123,

I can see from your posts that you're feeling very concerned about your appointment this Friday. It's natural for people to feel worried about being recalled following a mammogram. Given your experiences with your Mum and your best friend I can understand why you're particulalry anxious.

As Jolamine mentioned in her reply to your previous post there are many reasons why someone might be recalled following their first mammogram and there's a blog on the Breast Cancer Care website that you might find interesting.

I wonder though if you might find it more helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses. They're avaliable Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 and I'm sure that they'll be able to offer some support and reassurance ahead of your appointment this week.

I hope this helps and do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
