Cervical polyp

Hi everyone. I've been to the doc this morning after having vague abdominal and lower back ache. It's getting worse, and I'm going to the loo a lot, weeing. She did a swab, said there was a bit of discharge, and a urine sample showed slight signs of something so I've got antibiotics. But she found a polyp so I'm being referred to the hospital. Trying to think it's nothing, but this ache is really annoying. Pretty much constant. Has anybody else had this?

  • Hi ... recently had a smear come back with dodgy cells and when I had my test at the hospital to do further checks they found a polyp ... he removed it straight away With nipper’s and I watched on a screen, he said he will send it away and Mark as urgent but said it didn’t look to bad in his opinion and they are quite common, but when leaving the room he was on the phone and I over heard him saying female 58 high risk, I questioned the nurse and she said she didn’t hear him say it but bought him back in the room to speak to me, he made light out of it and said he hasn’t said that but I did hear him say high risk, now I’m worried to death it’s something worse.... today I feel I have cramps in my lower tummy ( haven’t had periods for years but feel a bit like that ) this is 5 days after I had it removed, do most come back ok or do you think it sounds more sinister x

  • I had a smear test yesterday and the nurse found a polyp and said she wanted a female doctor to see it and would arrange an appointment.  I am on the mini pill so don't get a period but I have had spotting and a bleed which lasted nearly two weeks.  The nurse spoke to a doctor and the doctor wasn't concerned as I had no symptoms the nurse hadn't thought the spotting was a symptom I have also had discharge.  She wasn't in today so speaking up another doctor tomorrow.  I have had very bad cramps since the smear and have been bleeding I have also had back pain for almost two weeks now a dull ache I don't know if it's to do with this or not.  I'm really worried and want it taken out but due to the current situation not sure what will happen

  • Hi how have you got on since your last post, I'm 30 I've had spotting and discharge for a year but passed from pillar to post trying to get a Dr to actually take it seriously. They looked yesterday and found a polyp so being referred but I also have this pain in the side of my stomach for the last 6 months. I hope it's all benign but I can't help think the worst. I'm so worried. I hope you have some answers for your pain

  • Hi I'm so glad your polyp was benign. I have had this ache and pain in my side, aligned with my belly button for 6 months along with spotting for a year. I wonder if your stomach pain was similar and if they got to the bottom of it? Or it got better after the polyp was removed

    Thank you

  • Hi Amy

I'm so sorry you are being passed from pillar to post.  I have an appointment on Thursday with the doctor who is going to take a look and refer me.  I have had no spotting since the smear but I have some today!  I have settled down and after speaking to the doctor understand why it is not classed as urgent as the bleeding they are fairly confident is coming from the polyp.
The pain I had I think was due to the smear as it stopped after about a week.

let me know how you get on.  Finger crossed it is all ok and can all be sorted for you

  • Thank you for replying, fingers crossed for u too let us know how u get on also

  • Well I had my doctors appointment at lunchtime and it's not a polyp it's not even where a polyp should be!!!  It's a cyst entirely normal and nothing to worry about and my bleeding abs cramping is entirely normal as I'm in my forties!!!  So three weeks of sleepless nights tears and worry all been for nothing.  It's good that they check things lout but omg it's been hell.

Hope you get news as good as me xx

  • Well so much for things being clear.  I have had my smear test results back high risk of hpv and changes in cells in my cervix.  Being sent for a colposcopy.  Says can take up to eight weeks for the letter for the appointment.  To say it's knocked me for six is an understatement.  Why does these results come on a Saturday when you can do nothing??? X

  • hi had vaginal ultrasound was ok looked ok they said then had poylps removed in next room as post menopause bleed took out the poylps 2 of them x 4 days after still pink discharge more when had number 2 x nurse said cervix walls look fine just saw poylps. We’re and why is it still bleeding after removal is it they still kind of being disturbed and they say 2 weeks mine is just pink slightly discharge x nurse said she wasn’t worried about anything but the trauma is sending anxiety also up wall

  • Hi all.

I went for a smear two weeks ago, and the nurse found i have a polyp. I later spoke with a doctor, because I have had a few mini bleeds in last 6 months, he referred me to a gynaecologist, whom I'm seeing on Tues 28th September.

I really don't want to be awake as will be so stressed out, only symptoms I have atm is slight tummy ache at times n lower back ache, bloated tummy, and energy less. If I ask for general anesthetic on arrival, would that be possible.

    Thanks in advance.
